Celebrating 40 Years of Sushi Village — and Honouring Miki

In the winter of 1984, three Vancouver restaurant workers developed a friendship while working together. On a whim, they decided to trek up to Whistler to check out the skiing they were hearing so much about. Once they ventured up the mountain, they were hooked — and essentially never left. One year later, in December of 1985, Sushi Village opened — a dream realized by three friends and one that would go on to shape Whistler’s food and après scene for decades.

To mark 40 years of Sushi Village — and to honour the memory of Miki — we brewed Miki’s Rice Lager: a crisp Japanese-style rice lager infused with bright yuzu juice, created in collaboration with our friends at Sushi Village.
